Logan's Four Month Appointment

On Thursday, Chris and I took Logan for his 4 month check-up with Dr. Bill. Logan weighed in at 15 pounds and 12 oz and is 24 and 3/4 inches long. Dr. Bill was very satisfied with his growth and development and kept commenting on how sweet natured and handsome Logan is. Logan played and cooed until the nurse can in to give him his booster shots. He cried until I was able to nurse him, but after that he was so good. We are so glad our little man is growing so well!

The Color Palette

Tonight, Meagan and I went to The Color Palette in Jasper for a little artsy fartsy time. We had an absolute blast trying to learn to paint, especially considering this is my first time with a paint brush since I was in elementary school. The instructor, Amy Boshell did a fabulous job of nurturing all of the novices as well as challenging some of those who have some experience. It was fun and it was messy, and of course I hope to be able to do it again soon. If you want to join me next time, let me know and I will make sure to make you a reservation. If you want more information, visit www.thecolorpalettestudio.com.

Party at Logan's crib!

On Sunday, Chris and I decided that it was time to move Logan from his bassinet in our room into his crib in the nursery. We had many people question the long wait, but we had our reasons. The main reason is our pediatrician suggested that we wait until Logan reached the four month marker, because his concrete/operational stage does not develop until then. If you aren't in health care or education, this probably sounds like gibberish, but basically it just means that your child thinks you are gone for good when he/she can't see/hear you. We really want Logan to be secure with us and trust us and it just made sense to wait.
So, Sunday night we went through the normal routine: breast, bath, lotion massage, breast, burp, bed. But this time, the last portion was done in his nursery and we laid him down in his crib. It was pretty rough that night; he woke up every two hours wanting to eat, but we made it through and did not bring him back in our room. Last night went better; he slept 3.5 hours, woke to eat, and then slept another 3 hours. We are hoping and praying that Logan starts sleeping for at least five hours each stretch very soon, but we will endure whatever to make sure he is healthy and happy. A really nice thing that has helped us tremendously is having a video monitor that Barbara (my mother in-law) bought us. We can actually see the little man breathing, as well as being able to hear every sound he makes, thus we aren't having near as much separation anxiety as we expected. Pray for us as we make this transition; we are lacking sleep, but we have heard it will be worth it.

Easter pics of Logan

Here are a few pics of us at Chris's parents after church on Easter Sunday. We took several of Logan in his Easter outfit on Chris's iphone, so hopefully I can steal that away soon to add those.

New pics of Logan

While we were staying at Chris's parents, we had plenty of time to take pictures. Aunt Alesha took these showing Logan off with some of his favorite things: an elephant from his room, a little Mickey Mouse that Granny bought him, and one of his many bouncy seats. Notice that he has an xbox 360 controller in his hands; the Williams' family loves to play video games. Also, we thought it would be cute to take Logan's picture in an Easter basket. Unfortunately, the basket and Logan weren't very compatible in size. lol. I don't want to say Logan was too big for it, so we will claim the basket is too small. :) More pictures are coming, so be on the lookout.

Easter Celebrations and Power Outage!

Life has been interesting to say the least the last few days. On Friday, we were released from school a little early. So, Logan and I rode with my Dad back to his house. Later that evening, Mom, Logan, and I went over to my sister Jennifer's house to help her take care of her children, Ethan and Christian. She had her tonsils taken out on Wednesday and just wasn't up to decorating Easter eggs with the boys, so Mom and I took control of that for her. The boys were hysterical dyeing eggs-mainly because they wanted to eat them more than dye them. Needless to say, we made a huge mess and stressed my Mother out big-time!
Sunday was very busy with church and visits to Chris's side of the family (Granny and Papaw Sadberry have a HUGE Easter dinner and get together every year). Logan did not have a nap either day, so he was somewhat fussy. (We took a few pictures, but those are not posted yet, because we STILL don't have power at home.)
Early Monday morning, a band of bad storms came through and we lost our power. I was out of school on Monday so I went to stay with Chris' parents until Alabama Power could restore our power. Tuesday, the students did not have to go to school, but guess who did? The teachers had to, of course. So yesterday was spent at school with no power (personally I thought it was quite nice as we weren't cut a day of pay and don't have to make it up either). Needless to say, our residence is still without power, but luckily (or not, depending on how you see it) we do have power back at school. As soon as we get power, I promise to post a few pics we took at Mom's for Easter and a few from Easter Sunday with Chris's family.

Praise Report!

Tonight, Chris and I went to Children's Hospital to visit our good friends Meredith and Alan and their beautiful, little Jane Baird. I have been asking you all to pray for her since she was taken to Children's to be treated for TEF. She had her surgery last week and only a week later, she is off the ventilator, holding her temperature without the incubator and lights, and she had her first bottle today. Her swallow test came out pristine and she has a very healthy appetite. Check "The Harbison Family" blog for more info on this wonderful little girl. I had hoped to take a picture tonight with Chris's iphone, but we were both so in awe of her that we totally forgot. Please continue to pray: Jane Baird still has lots to accomplish before she can go home and Meredith and Alan are pooped from all of the driving and late nights. Keep praying that it won't be long until they can bring their baby girl home.

New pics of Logan

It has been quite a while since I have uploaded any new pictures of Logan, so here are a few from last weekend at Mom and Dad's. We had
Logan's portraits made by Heather Odom about a week ago and as soon as we get those back I will post some.
